Tenshin Bukō-ryū heihō focuses on the naginata and is one of the few schools to use the kagitsuki naginata.
The central weapon of Tatsumi-ryū is the katana, where it is trained against a variety of other weapons in this sōgō bujutsu (総合武術).
Masaki-ryu Nakajima-ha is a traditional Japanese martial art centering on manriki-gusari, jitte torinawa, kusarigama and a number of other concealed weapons.
Before Japan moved towards the more westernised society that we see today, it was ruled by warrior class, who lived and trained in the ways of the Samurai. Koryu, or "old flow", are those schools and individuals that have maintained an unbroken lineage between masters from those warriors, to the present day.
Currently looking for interested students to study traditional Japanese martial arts.
Feel free to reach out, to chat about koryu, and join this newly forming study group, based in Ashbourne, Co. Meath.
